The prices are close enough that the choice should come down to what you do all day. MacWhisper is priced in euros on its own store, so the dollar figure moves with the exchange rate. There is also a separate App Store version with its own pricing; check the listing.
Where MacWhisper wins#
- Depth on files. Batch queues, many input formats, editing the transcript, and exports such as subtitles for video. If you transcribe recordings for a living, MacWhisper is built around you.
- A free version to try before paying. Whisperer has no free tier.
- Older Macs. Whisperer needs Apple Silicon and macOS 26 Tahoe. If you're on an older system, MacWhisper may still run, so check its requirements.
- Track record. MacWhisper has been around for years.
