Whisperer connects to Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook and turns your schedule into recordings without extra clicks. Shortly before each meeting, a reminder card appears with Join & Record, Record and Dismiss. One click opens the meeting link and starts recording on your Mac, and the recording is named after the invite with the participants saved alongside it. Access is read-only, the sign-in token stays in your Keychain, and no bot joins the call.
What the calendar adds#
Whisperer already notices calls on its own. It sees when Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, a Slack huddle, Webex, FaceTime or a browser tab opens the microphone, and asks "Zoom call started — Take notes?". The calendar makes that better in three ways.
A reminder before the call#
You pick when it shows: at the start, or 1, 2 or 5 minutes before. The card has three buttons:
- Join & Record opens the meeting link in your own Zoom, Teams or Meet app and starts recording
- Record starts recording, for when you've already joined
- Dismiss skips this one
A real title#
Without a calendar, a recording might be called "Zoom call, Tuesday 10:00". With it, the recording takes the invite's title, like "Mobile launch review". That's what you'll search for next week.
Participants from the invite#
The invite's attendee list is saved with the recording. When the transcript shows Speaker 1 and Speaker 2, you can name them from that list in one click. Action items then carry real owners.
Set it up#
Open Calendar in the Workspace window
It's in the sidebar, between Meeting Notes and File Transcription.
Sign in with Google or Microsoft
Pick Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook and sign in in your browser. Whisperer asks for read-only access.
Choose your calendars
Turn on the calendars you want reminders for. A shared team calendar full of other people's events can stay off.
Pick the reminder time
At the start, or 1, 2 or 5 minutes before. There's also an option to skip events with no attendees and no meeting link, so your "focus time" blocks don't trigger anything.
Click Join & Record
The next time a meeting comes up, the card appears. One click and you're in, recording.
The first time you record, Whisperer shows a one-time reminder about consent. In many places the law requires you to tell people you're recording. That part is up to you.
Automatic recording#
If you'd rather not click anything, turn on Automatically record detected meetings. For Zoom, Teams and Webex calls, Whisperer starts recording after a short countdown you can cancel. Other calls, such as a Slack huddle or a browser call, still ask first, because those apps use the microphone for other things too.
When a detected call matches an event on your calendar, the card and the recording use the event's title.
While it records#
A small bar called the Island sits at the edge of your screen with pause, stop and open. You get a live transcript as people talk. Both sides of the call are captured, the call audio and your microphone, whether you use speakers or headphones.
If you need to dictate mid-call, hold Fn. The meeting pauses, you dictate, and the meeting picks up again when you let go.
After the call#
The recording becomes a meeting note in Meeting Notes:
- title from the invite, and the participant list
- AI overview, key topics and decisions
- action items with owners
- open questions and the next meeting
- the full transcript with speaker names, searchable across all your meetings
The notes are written by the AI you pick on the LLM page: the free model on your Mac, or your own ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or Gemini plan.
Privacy#
- Read-only. Whisperer reads events and attendees. It can't create, edit or delete anything on your calendar.
- Keychain. The Google or Microsoft token is stored in the macOS Keychain.
- No middleman. Events come straight from Google or Microsoft to your Mac. There's no Whisperer server and no account.
- Audio stays local. Recording and transcription happen on your Mac.
Limits#
- Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook are supported. iCloud calendars and other providers aren't covered by the sign-in.
- Join & Record needs a meeting link in the invite. Without one, use Record.
- Whisperer has to be running on the Mac you take the call on. It doesn't record calls you take on your phone.
FAQ#
Can Whisperer change or delete my calendar events?#
No. The Google and Microsoft sign-ins are read-only. Whisperer reads events and participants and never writes to your calendar.
Where is my calendar sign-in stored?#
In the macOS Keychain on your Mac. Events come straight from Google or Microsoft and are not sent anywhere else.
Does Whisperer join the meeting as a bot?#
No. Join & Record opens the meeting link in your own Zoom, Teams or Meet, and Whisperer records on your Mac. Nothing joins the call.
What about calls that aren't on my calendar?#
Whisperer detects calls in Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Slack huddles, Webex, FaceTime and browsers by seeing which app opened the microphone, and asks if you want notes.
Do I need a calendar to use meeting notes?#
No. The calendar adds reminders, invite titles and participant names. Call detection and notes work without it.
